Materials Needed:
- Sewing pattern for eye pillows (available for free in our store)
- Fabric scraps for the cover and lining
- Webbing tape (optional) as a label
- About 100 grams of flax seeds
- About 10 grams of dried lavender
- Lavender oil (optional)
- Sewing thread
- Pins
- Ruler
- Washable marker
- Sewing needles
- Sewing machine
Step 1: Fabric Cutting
- Use the sewing pattern to cut two pieces of fabric for the pillow cover and two pieces of fabric for the lining.
- Make sure to mark the location of the opening on one of the lining pieces.
Step 2: Decoration (optional)
- If desired, add a woven ribbon label to one of the fabric pieces before sewing. Pin it in place and sew it on.
Step 3: Assembly
- Place the two fabric pieces for the cover with right sides together, and do the same with the lining pieces.
- Pin the fabric pieces together, leaving a small opening on one side for turning.
Step 4: Stitching
- Sew around the pillow, leaving a seam allowance of approximately 1 cm. Don’t forget to leave the opening for turning.
- Cut the corners and curved edges to reduce bulk.
Step 5: Filling
- Turn the pillow right side out through the opening.
- Fill the pillow with the flax seeds and lavender.
- You can also add a few drops of lavender oil for a stronger aroma, if desired.
Step 6: Closure
- Close the opening by hand using an invisible stitch or with the sewing machine.
Mixing Flax Seeds and Lavender: Mix the flax seeds with the dried lavender in a bowl. If you want a stronger lavender scent, you can add 1 to 5 drops of lavender oil.
The lavender oil should be of high quality, otherwise it could irritate the skin. Unfortunately, some discount stores sell low-quality lavender oil or mix it with other oils. If you want to use lavender oil for aromatherapy or to soften the skin, make sure to use good-quality lavender oil.
