How to Make a Dog Treat Bag – A Quick and Easy Project for Our Four-Footed Friends

Looking for a fun and simple project for your furry friend? Look no further! Today, we’re going to show you how to make a handy dog treat bag that’s perfect for walks, training sessions, or just spoiling your pup.

Materials:

  • Outer fabric: 1 piece measuring 4 3/4″ by 9″
  • Lining fabric: 1 piece measuring 4 3/4″ by 9″
  • Loop: 2 pieces measuring 2″ by 4 3/4″
  • Fusible interfacing: 2 pieces measuring 4 3/4″ by 9″ and 1 piece measuring 2″ by 4 3/4″
  • 1/4″ elastic: 1 piece measuring 5″ in length
  • Large safety pin

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Materials: Fuse the interfacing to the wrong side of the outer fabric, lining fabric, and one of the loop rectangles.
  2. Attach Elastic: Measure 3/4″ down from the short side of the lining fabric and mark. Baste the elastic in place just below the 3/4″ mark.
  3. Round the Corners: Place the lining and outer fabrics right sides together. Use a circular object to round the corners on the side that does not have the elastic attached, then cut out the curves.
  4. Sew the Pieces Together: Sew the two pieces together using a quarter-inch seam, leaving a three-inch opening for turning. Turn right sides out.
  5. Create the Loop: Stack the two loop pieces wrong sides together. Fold the pieces and trim as instructed in the tutorial, then satin stitch along the long sides.
  6. Attach the Loop: Draw a line on the outer fabric and center the loop, sewing it in place. Fold and press the loop, then top stitch along the bottom edge.
  7. Finish the Bag: Measure and fold the bag, then top stitch the entire edge. Slip in the safety pin to attach the bag to your clothing or belt.

Variations:

  • For gooey treats, add iron-on vinyl to the lining fabric.
  • Use Velcro closure instead of elastic for a different fastening option.

And there you have it! Your very own DIY dog treat bag. Your furry friend will thank you for it on your next walk or training session. Happy crafting!
