Bacon Cheeseburger Casserole

Bacon Cheeseburger Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 12 cooked and crumbled bacon strips
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • Optional toppings: Dill pickle slices, thinly sliced green onions, slices of red onion, halved cherry tomatoes

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a large skillet, cook beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until beef is no longer pink and onion is tender, about 10-12 minutes. Break up beef into crumbles while cooking; drain excess fat.
  2. Transfer the cooked beef mixture to a greased 13×9-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with bacon and 1 cup of cheddar cheese. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, tomato paste, heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until well combined. Pour the mixture over the beef. Sprinkle with the remaining 2 cups of cheddar cheese.
  3. Bake, uncovered, until set and golden brown, approximately 30-35 minutes. Let it stand for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with optional toppings as desired.

Tips:

  • Customize your casserole with caramelized onions, different cheese blends, lean ground turkey, or fresh chorizo for added flavor.
  • Serve this casserole alongside fries, sliced red onions, and halved cherry tomatoes for a well-rounded meal.
