Hearty Beef Stew

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams chuck beef, cut into 2.5-centimeter cubes
  • 60 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 60 milliliters vegetable oil
  • 60 milliliters apple cider vinegar
  • 750 milliliters beef broth
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 carrots, peeled and diced
  • 4 stalks celery, chopped
  • 6 potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour and pepper. Roll the beef cubes in the flour mixture until well coated.
  2. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the beef cubes in batches and cook until browned on all sides.
  3. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside. Add the apple cider vinegar to the pot and deglaze, scraping up the browned bits from the bottom.
  4. Return the beef to the pot and stir in the beef broth, bay leaves, onion, carrots, celery, potatoes, and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 1.5 hours, or until the beef is tender and the vegetables are cooked.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot and enjoy!
